  • A new model for a growing need

A new model for a growing need

When a child with autism turns twenty-one, long-term support systems suddenly end or become extremely limited, creating a crisis for the individual and the family.

With about 1 in 68 U.S. children having been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and with the data suggesting the number may be dramatically underreported, the lack of programs and sustainable work situations for adults with autism will only become more acute.

Unlike the type of traditional work environments that ask individuals with autism to adjust to them, we’ve built the world’s first workspace centered around employees with autism, with the ability to focus on each staff member’s unique abilities and needs. In short, we created we make to not only answer the question of “what’s next” – but to introduce a model that takes inclusive work environments to the next level.

When a child with autism turns into an adult with autism, far more than the terminology changes. At age 21, support systems that have been in place for years to nurture, educate and elevate suddenly become either extremely limited or disappear altogether, creating a crisis for both the individual and the family.

With about 1 in 68 children in the U.S. having been identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and with the data suggesting that current methodologies may be dramatically underreporting the actual number of cases, the lack of programs and sustainable work situations for adults with autism will only become more acute.

Unlike the type of traditional work environments that ask individuals with autism to adjust to them, we’ve built the world’s first workspace centered around employees with autism, with the ability to focus on each staff member’s unique abilities and needs. we make is about careers, not jobs

While there are many places that offer individuals with autism a place to work, we make provides a place where all staff members can truly grow. • A successful model. A new beginning.

A successful model. A new beginning.

we make is starting as a single workspace with a specific type of work. While this environment will create enrichment opportunities for a growing number of adults with autism, what can truly scale is the idea itself. Our goal: produce a flexible model companies can replicate by adopting our approach and processes to their operations and industries.

As other companies and communities discover and embrace the we make model, we can collectively help an unprecedented number of individuals reach their full potential. Which means the potential for we make is even more extraordinary: to change the very way society views the condition of autism, people with ASD, and the contributions these exceptional individuals can make to the world.

we make provides single workspaces with a specific type of work. This particular environment creates enrichment opportunities for a growing number of adults with autism, the program model can truly scale in many types of communities. We have produced a flexible model which can be replicated by adopting our approach and processes to specific operations and industries.

As companies and communities across the U.S. discover and embrace the we make model, we can collectively help an unprecedented number of individuals reach their full potential. This means the potential for we make is extraordinary! we make is changing the way society views people with ASD and the kinds of contributions that can be made by people with autism.
